Sisters in Crime/LA Board of Directors
The Sisters in Crime/Los Angeles Board of Directors are volunteers elected by the membership to serve a two-year term. The Board consists of published novelists, screen and TV writers, educators and crime fiction fans.

The SinC/LA Board of Directors is composed of the Officers: President, Vice-President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer; and the Directors: immediate Past President, Membership Director, Merchandise Director, Publicity Director, Editor of Ransom Notes, Speakers Bureau Director, and up to six Members-at-Large.
All Officers and Directors must be active members of Sisters in Crime, Inc. and SinC/LA. Terms of office for Officers and Directors of SinC/LA are for two fiscal years. Officers and Directors may run again for one subsequent two-year term for the same office.
The President is the first executive officer of SinC/LA, and presides at membership meetings and calls and presides at all meetings of the Board of Directors. The President sets goals and responsibilities, serves as ad hoc member of committees, polls Board of Directors members on major decisions, keeps members informed, serves as group spokesperson, and performs such other duties as the Board of Directors may from time to time determine.
Vice President/Programming Director – Schedules featured authors (readers) and speakers for monthly meetings; introduces featured authors and speakers at meetings; liaison with the library and our bookseller, Mystery Ink. May or may not be one of the CCWC co-chairs.
The Recording Secretary records the minutes of each Board of Directors meeting, distributes those minutes to each member of the Board of Directors in a timely manner, and print a copy of the approved minutes to place in the official Minutes book.
Corresponding Secretary – Processes the chapter e-mail address; processes snail mail forwarded to her by the membership director; handles Vertical Response mailings; takes care of the SinCLA Yahoo group.
The Treasurer receives all moneys of SinC/LA, deposits the same into the SinC/LA account, makes disbursements from these funds as authorized by the Board of Directors, keeps accurate financial accounts, maintains the chapter checking account and an up-to-date membership roster, and prepares and submits a monthly financial statement.
The Membership Director maintains a current membership roster, and creates and/or implements activities or events for the purpose of maintaining and increasing the membership of SinC/LA.
Merchandise Director – Orders new merchandise (with the approval of the Board), makes sure the merchandise table is staffed at monthly meetings and book festivals, makes sure the merchandise gets to and from the meetings and other events; has a key to the storage unit where merchandise is stored.
The Publicity Director promotes public awareness of the purpose and goals of SinC/LA and its members through announcements to the public and other entities including booksellers, libraries, social media, and news agencies, details of chapter meetings, special events, and other chapter activities.
The Speakers’ Bureau Director maintains the Speakers Bureau roster and organizes book signing events and panels at libraries, bookstores, and other outlets to promote and publicize the activities of SinC/LA members.
Members-at-Large. Up to six Members-at-Large may be elected to support the objectives SinC/LA, serve on special committees, and perform such other duties as may be directed by the Board of Directors.
